Awards Night at Coastal Lodge #57 - 2009 By: Brother Bill Breed The annual awards night was held at Coastal Lodge #57 in Stonington, CT on May 19th. Worshipful Master Kenneth Bickford presided and hosted a tarragon chicken dinner prior to the ceremony. With approximately 90 Brothers, wives, and guests present, the Lodge was nearly bursting at the seams. WB Bickford welcomed Brother Arthur H. Carlstrom, Most Worshipful Grand Master for the State of Connecticut, and his suite of officers. The Awards presentations commenced with individual awards for achievement during the past year. WB Ken Bickford presented a bouquet of roses to Michele Mossberg in recognition of the amount of time WB Carl Mossberg spends doing Lodge business in his dual roles as Secretary and President of the Temple Corporation. The Coastal Lodge #57 Outstanding Service Award was presented to Brother William L. Breed and Jon Wilson for the exemplification of Freemasonry and longevity of outstanding effort and service to Coastal Lodge and the community. The Coastal Lodge #57 Craftsman Award was presented to Brothers Timothy Devine and Robert “Vern” Bailey in recognition for their dedication and service in and about Coastal Lodge. The Coastal Lodge #57 Community Service Award was presented to Brother Eric Donch for his distinguished service to the community that puts Freemasonry and Coastal Lodge in a good light within the community. The Coastal Lodge #57 Ladies Award was presented to Mrs. Barbara Archambeault for distinguishing herself in the service to the Lodge. The Coastal Lodge #57 Ritualistic Award was presented to Brother M. Shane Devine for excellence in the preparation and presentation of special lectures.
WB Ken Bickford then presented WB Ed and Ruth Childs a special award for their continued service, consisting of a personal memento in the name of Brother James Pierce for WB Ed and a dozen red long stem roses for his wife Ruth. The program continued with recognition of the many years of service accumulated by the Brothers present in the Lodge. WB Bickford recognized all brothers who earned the awards and presented pins to those who were present. After a suitable prologue by Grand Junior Steward, Fifty-Year Service pin were presented to Brothers WB Donald Pattison, Dana Kenny II, and Kenneth Palmer. Brothers also receiving 50-year pins but not able to attend were: WB William Sutter, Lawrence Jacobsen, Robert Meister, and Norman Onstott

30 Years 35 Years 40 Years 45 Years 55 Years 60 Years 65 Years * Brothers not present MWGM Carlstrom was very thankful for having been invited and complimented the Lodge on a superb dinner. He extended his congratulations to all the Brothers who were presented awards. WB Bickford presented Grand Master Carlstrom with a golf shirt embroidered with the Lodge Logo and a Lodge Pin to remind him of this most enjoyable evening. MWGM was also presented with an historic Knights Templar black velvet triangular apron, now obsolete, with crossed swords and skull and crossbones. Upon completion of the presentations the Lodge adjourned to [partake of refreshments. The WM and Wardens closed the Lodge in form prior to the commencement of the evening’s activities.
